Our Alumni

It has been twenty-five years since Torah Academy opened its doors for the school's first class of three year olds.  Since then, twelve classes have graduated.

Where are they now?

Perhaps now is a good time to look back at that first group of children and see where they are.  It just so happens that among that first group are three young people who were born within twenty-four hours of each other, to parents who were founders of the school.

SPOTLIGHT ON THREE TA GRADUATES:

Nisan Siegel, Benzion Moskovitz, and Sarah Miller Zilberstein demonstrate the excellent education provided by Torah Academy, and the diverse opportunities open to our graduates.

After graduating from Torah Academy, Nisan Siegel attended the Maimonides School. He studied at Yeshivat HaKotel in Jerusalem and then returned to New England where he received his Bachelor's Degree in chemistry at Brandeis University, and met his wife, Andrea. After working in his field for one year, Nisan decided to pursue his doctorate. He and Andrea are now living in Georgia, where Nisan is studying for his Ph.D. in physical chemistry at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and Andrea is a graduate student at Emory University in Oxford, Georgia.

Benzion Moskovitz attended high school at the Telshe Yeshivah in Cleveland. He then studied at the Stamford Yeshivah in Connecticut and at the Brisker Yeshivah in Israel. He spent two summers in Jewish outreach in the former Soviet Union before returning to the United States. After marrying Tzipporah Jakobovits, granddaughter of the former Chief Rabbi of Great Britain, Lord Dr. Emanuel Jakobovits, Benzi and his wife moved to Lakewood, where he now is a Talmudic Scholar at Beth Medrash Gevoha of Lakewood. Their second child was born this past January.

Sara Miller graduated from Torah Academy in 1992 and attended Tikvah High School in New Haven. Then she traveled to Israel to study at the Bais Yaakov of Jerusalem Sara Schneirer Teachers Institute. Returning home, she received her bachelor's degree in political science from Wellesley College. Sara is now engaged in a fascinating assignment as an investigator with the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct. Last winter she married Tzvi Zilberstein, a senior financial analyst at IDT Corporation. They make their home in Manhattan.

"TA prepared us for all different kinds of things in life," Sarah recalls. "We were really equipped to go on to any kind of further education we wanted."

As products of a Torah Academy education, Nisan, Benzi, and Sarah have found a world of opportunities open to them.
