Message from the Menahel
Rabbi Hillel Mandel
Education is the process of learning and integrating what is being learned into life and life's experiences. As our students acquire information and skills, both in the Kodesh and Secular Studies, they are learning to integrate that information and those skills into their own lives. As they garner information they learn to think, to evaluate, and to form ideas and opinions.
With Torah as the foundation of their lives, they are taught the eternal teachings of G-d in conjunction with their profound moral and ethical heritage. Torah Academy, as an educational institution for twenty-three years, has stood for excellence in education and in developing exemplary B'nei Torah and B'nos Yisrael. Our staff of exceptional Rebbeim, Moros and highly qualified General Studies teachers, have been very successful in producing well-rounded boys and girls who are deeply committed to Torah and Mitzvos, to Ahavas Yisrael and to becoming productive citizens.
As Torah Academy, completes its twenty-third year of service to the Boston kehilla, it is appropriate to take stock of our accomplishments and to look towards the future.
In these twenty-three years, Torah Academy has grown from a school of eight children to one that has over two hundred כן ירבו; from just a handful of teachers to a staff of over thirty-five teachers. In these twenty-three years, the school has played a vital role in the growth of the Orthodox community in Boston. Without a Torah institution such as Torah Academy, the face of the Torah community would look very different than it does today.
Torah Academy has graduated young men and women who have become wonderful בני תורה and בנות ישראל. They have been accepted into premier Yeshivos, Bais Yaakov schools, and seminaries in this country and abroad. Our graduates are a source of much pride to us and have proven to be great assets to the communities in which they live.
A school is only as good as its teaching staff. Our Rebbeim and
Moros are מחנכים and מחנכות par excellence. Not only are they
excellent pedagogues, but they are also wonderful role models for
the children. They inspire and infuse the students with אהבת תורה and
commitment to שמירת המצוות.
Academically, the school has a very strong and competitive General
Studies curriculum in place, from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th
grade. Our General Studies faculty is made up of dedicated and
highly qualified teachers who are knowledgeable and who create a
positive environment for learning and the acquisition of skills and
knowledge.
Finally, without the dedication of hard working baale batim, no school could exist, let alone function. ב"ה Torah Academy is blessed with a dedicated group of baale batim who work hard for the school and who generously share their time and resources.
As the school grows, we must think of the future of Torah Academy. Our future must contain plans for a larger and upgraded facility. This vision is very much alive in the minds of our Board of Directors, faculty, and parents. As we go מחיל אל חיל, our priorities are for an excellent school in both לימודי קודש and General Studies. Our priority is the need for a state of the art school facility, while maintaining the רוח, the warmth, and all those 'extras' that have given Torah Academy the excellent reputation it has. I am confident that just as הקב"ה has granted us הצלחה until now, He will continue to do so in the future.
